I’ve posted a couple joints over the last couple weeks, and the artwork x tracklist last night. Now it’s time to unleash the (2)dope EP from the South Carolina emcee, Dan Johns. After working out the details with www.2dopeboyz.com (one of the best hip hop blogs period, according to VIBE) my new EP “Hype Machine” will be dropping next week.

…the name is Dan, D to the A-N. haha. what’s good world? As the entertainment industry turns itself up-side down, I find myself relating more to the painter in the studio painting, than the painting being on display in the art exhibit.
The business of music is such a …..business. The natural process of inspiration, dedication then creation is compromised by release dates, red tape, and over-saturation.
Right now, i’m going through the motions of having a completed project ready to go, but things have hit a stumbling block on the business side of things, and its kind of a buzz kill.
The blog hasn’t been updated in a while, but i’m still on the job, working things out in my own way. Stay tuned, and you’ll all be witnesses.

So Ak should be arriving at the lab ’shortly’ (he’s always at least 30mins-1hr late) to finalize the tracklisting for his album, which then means i’ll be mixing down the songs in the coming days/weeks.
I was just getting junk out of my studio, trying to make it more efficient (and easier to move around in) as with the upcoming releases, it will get a definite work out. Back on the boards as a producer, invigorated as an emcee, and focused as an executive, I find myself surrounded by inspiration, responsibility and creativity.
Even in my down time, i find myself in front of either the studio pc or my laptop, putting some files in order, or finding a distraction that still stimulates the mind. (graphic novels, chess, music for the mp3 player).
Well, Megan’s outside with groceries that need to be brought in, so enough randomness for now.

The up-to-the-minute latest on the “Hype Machine” music release. What’s
good young world? Many of you have come through here as a result of the
dope article by Otis Taylor of The State, (be a part of history and grab a copy, the online version has 2 song leaks) on my new project, “Hype Machine.”
The project iscomplete, and is ready to release to the world. This is a case of art immitating life (or rather life immitating art), as the ‘machine’ behind “Hype Machine” is in motion, and in order to ensure a proper presentation of the music, the links to the free download are not available at this time.
Thanks to the hard work of my management team (Same Plate Management), this project is being properly packaged with precise, calculated execution of the release of the singles, remixes, and the actual EP
itself. (I hesitate to call 11+ songs an EP, so you’ll hear me say
‘project’ often)
Another phase of this is me trying to finalize the plans for the video for the first single, “Meaning of Life,” which will hit the net very soon. Thanks for your patience regarding the project, and the process of getting it out there.

In the meanwhile, be sure and grab a copy of the free EP “Let’s Be Clear Vol.1” by Akshun and yours truly, our first complete project as a group. Speaking of which, while both of these releases are digital releases, we are pleased to let you know that hard copies of “Let’s Be Clear Vol.1” will be available next week, with hard copies of “Hype Machine” being available upon its release.

In today’s musical climate, even the average listener changes playlists about as often as he/she changes clothes. On top of that, the majority of the music found on mp3 players was either ‘obtained’ for free, or given away online.
With that in mind, Akshun & Dan Johns of Mag-O got together one Saturday morning, and decided to put together a project to give away before the weekend was over. The result of that weekend is “Let’s Be Clear Vol. 1,” an 8-track EP that is just as much about the fun side of making music as it is about the growth of 2 artists.
Also serving as a warm up for more releases (Dan Johns’ “Hype Machine” drops in 3 weeks, with Akshun’s “Sinner’s Therapy” on deck for a spring release), this EP paints the picture of how life, family, music and trying to juggle all three has impacted Ak and Dan.

When I wake up in the morning, work will begin on the collaborative EP, to be completed in one weekend, featuring Akshun and Dan Johns. Cleaning up the studio (keep in mind I just really got settled into the new residence), getting supplies/food/drinks, and rounding up beats was tiring tonight. First thing in the morning I’ll get up, go by the old studio and grab a couple of folding chairs, and grab some coffee filters (you already know this will be an all nighter).
My twitter game is gonna be interesting…I really don’t even visit Myspace like that, but I imagine yall will be kept posted in some way, shape, form or fashion. Easy
As I’m sitting here watching TMZ with Megan, they do a piece about Hammer and Vanilla Ice performing together in some small venue for $30. The TMZ staff are debating on if Hammer and Vanilla Ice could sell out the Staple Center. I think that they could and Megan disagrees. What about you?
Would you shell out $30 for a joint concert by Hammer and Vanilla Ice? I would. (partially for the sheer comedy/irony, but i still would spend the 30). reply here and let me know
